Texas Born. Beef Cattle Agvocate.Agriculture is a part of everyday life. Agriculture is the ground we walk on, the food we eat and the clothes we wear. I am an advocate for agriculture, aka "agvocate" and want to share the story of agriculture with you.
Hello, my name is Jeralyn Stephens Novak and I am a 2011 graduate of Tarleton State University where I earned a degree in Agricultural Communications. I grew up in agriculture raising everything from rabbits to horses and goats to cattle. My passion in life is the cattle industry. I grew up in town as a kid, but my parents always made sure my sister and I were connected to the agricultural world. Through 4-H and FFA I found my passion and decided I wanted to share it with the world. We moved out to the country, FINALLY, and started raising cattle. I was automatically hooked to the cattle industry. I continued this passion for the cattle industry at Tarleton State University. I was introduced to the world of meat evaluation and yet again, I was hooked. I was fortunate to learn the production side of the cattle industry as a kid and then educated on the food factor of the beef industry through meat judging. I traveled the country seeing only the walls of harvesting plants and the roads we traveled, but I would not trade it for anything. After finishing my tour of meat judging I wanted to remain connected, so I found the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. This is where I got hooked again and was educated on the policy side of the beef cattle industry. The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) hired me as the communications and policy intern for the spring of 2011 and I could not have asked for a better experience. Throughout my time at NCBA I was enthralled with how policy drives the beef cattle industry and how important it is for people to fight for cattle producer rights. In the year 2012 I was fortunate enough to serve as the manage of web content at NCBA and live in Denver, Colo. After a great adventure in the colorful state of Colorado and falling in love with a south Texas farmer I moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2013. Then married my husband, who happens to be a farmer, in May 2015. I am currently serving as the communications coordinator for Beefmaster Breeders United. I will continue to stay hooked on agriculture, beef and life as a north Texas native living the dream in south Texas. Stay tuned for my adventures of marriage, cattle, farming and loving life. |
